Database planning is strategy corporate effort to determine the information needs of the organization form extended period into the future. A successful database planning project will precede operational project to design and implement new databases to satisfy the organizational information needs.

The need for database planning: Database planning is directed by the information needs of the organization which in turn or determined by the company’s business plan . the process is shown in the below diagram.
